BALLYCLARE COMRADES 2-1 QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY

THE first half was a fairly dull affair, both teams struggled to come to terms with the windy conditions and boggy pitch.

But the game burst into life in the second half, with the home side going on the front foot.

They got their reward in the 56th minute when Stephen McDowell cracked a great into the bottom corner of the net from 16 yards.

That goal looked as if it would be enough to win the game, but in injury-time Queen's grabbed an equaliser, when Matt McManus fired in from 8 yards after the ball broke to him from a free-kick.

A skirmish occurred after the goal and home defender Lee Rushe got straight red card for his part in it.

However there was still time for more drama.

Four minutes into injury-time Comrades won a free-kick wide on the right and Andrew Simms whipped the ball in on goal.

Keeper Duff clawed the ball out, but from behind the line and the decisive goal was given.
