CELTIC'S PROMOTION CHANCES HANGING BY A THREAD

LURGAN Celtic's promotion hopes now hang by a thread after this drawn game with Queen's University.

The first half was fairly uneventful but the visitors shaded it on possession although chances for both sides were at premium and with Celtic missing three regulars from the starting line up they weren’t firing on all cylinders.

Celtic started the 2nd half much brighter, taking the game to Queens and after a slick passing move Boyd crossed for Fitzpatrick to head home to the delight of the home support.

Queen's equalised after Celtic's defence were caught out and a fine cross gave Hegan an easy header at the far post to dent Celtic's promotion hopes.

In the last minutes of the game Celtic put Queens under fierce pressure and Ryan saw a fine left foot shot turned away for a corner and shortly afterwards a shot from Haire struck the keeper on the chest but this was as close as they came to re-establishing their lead as the referee blew for time on a disappointing result for the home side.
