QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY 2-2 BALLYCLARE COMRADES
13th Aug 2012
QUEEN'S settled first and were ahead after eight minutes when lively winger Ryan Murphy was tripped when bearing down on goal.
Paul McDonald easily converted the resulting penalty, sending Ballyclare custodian Warren McCallister the wrong way.
Ballyclare came more into the game and came close when the impressive Stephen McDowell fired narrowly wide of the far post and soon afterwards Gary Brown's shot came back off the post.
Just before the break Ballyclare got the equaliser.
Johnny McClurg's right wing corner found the unmarked Stephen McDowell beyond the far post and he volleyed home from six yards.
Ballyclare had most of the possession in the second period but it was Queen's who scored again when debutant Seamus Moore fired a left foot drive, inside McCallister's near post after 53 minutes.
It was an attractive end to end game and Ballyclare's efforts were deservedly rewarded after 88 minutes when right back Stuart McClean scored in a goalmouth scramble.
