ROESIDERS PUT STUTTERING START BEHIND THEM

After a disappointing start to the season Limavady United finally found their shooting boots with this four goal thumping of Coagh United.

Cathair Friel opened the scoring on 25 minutes when he was quickest to reach a Blain Morrison low cross to loop the ball over Coagh 'keeper William Hassan from five yards.

Aaron Campbell might have levelled for the visitors moments later with a low effort but Roesiders 'keeper Matt McGraw did well to save.

Friel spurned the chance to make it 2-0 just after the half-hour mark when he somehow fired wide from point blank range.

He atoned for that miss on 37 minutes, however, after outsprinting the Coagh defence to toe poke his second goal of the afternoon.

Corey McMullan extended Limavady's lead two minutes from the break after he got on the end of a long cross field ball to volley beyond the helpless Hassan.

Coagh came close to reducing the deficit on 78 minutes when Campbell and Morrison went into a challenge with the ball falling loose and seemingly towards goal before McGraw intervened to clear the danger.

McGraw was also on hand six minutes after that to thwart a hopeful Aaron Thornton free-kick.

Calvin McCallion completed the scoring with three minutes remaining with a strong finish from the edge of the box after substitute Gareth Brown had created the opening.
