WAKEHURST 3-0 MOYOLA PARK
13th Aug 2012
WAKEHURST kicked off the new season with a 'home' game against ground landlords, Moyola Park at Mill Meadow, Castledawson.
Wakehurst made a bright start and gave the impression that an entertaining game was on the cards, taking a fourth minute lead through striker Connor Gregg.
However, the match quickly deteriorated and the boredom was only broken on the half hour mark when Ryan Gregg cut in from the left and hit a cracking right foot shot off the underside of the crossbar and into the net from fully 25 yards to give his team a commanding 2-0 lead at the interval.
Wakehurst did improve after the break but despite their overall superiority only added to their lead with an excellent last minute goal from the lively Jason Paul.
Moyola were very disappointing and only the two youngsters, Curtis Hassan and Robert Lucas posed any threat against a well organised Wakehurst defence.
